I shared this fly about a month ago and decided to create a video tying a CDC Little Olive Stone. The fly imitates the size 16 and 18 stoneflies we’ve seen on the streamside vegetation and flitting on the water.

You might mistake them for Caddis, because they fly in a similar manner, but capture one and you’ll see the tell-tale sign of a Stonefly with the wings flat accros its back.

Several fish have risen to this fly. I love the segmentation a turkey biot provides and the CDC silhouette looks like wings moving. You could also use stripped peacock herl for the fly, but I prefer the turkey biot as I can select smaller sizes for the body.
I decided to create a video demonstrating how I tie the CDC Little Olive Stone.
Be sure to follow my RiverKeeper Flies YouTube channel as I’ll publish another video soon demontrating how I tie an Upright Biot Body Dun.

The impetus for this fly is the Flav hatch and fish ignoring my other offers.

Enjoy…go fish!
