We fished the Lower D recently while drifting from Warm Springs to Trout Creek and happened to run into Eric’s Deschutes River Bar and Grill. Have you seen it along the river as you’ve floated? The location is a secret, but if you can find it, I highly recommend it.
Launch your drift boat at Warm Springs and begin floating downstream.

Be sure to enjoy the scenery along the way.

Check out the streamside grass to see if the big bugs are around. It will help you determine which fly to tie onto your leader.

And the fishing can be good too, so top at different locations and cast a fly.

You might be lucky and hook up on a fish or two.

Look for an island where the BBQ is smoking. Grab a beer and cool off in the water waiting for the burgers to cook.

Enjoy the first bite.

I hear the bartender makes a mean Moscow Mule.

That day, the fish were looking up and taking Golden Stonefly imitations. Clark’s Lady Stone worked well.

Eric’s Deschutes River Bar and Grill doesn’t have a sign. Just keep rowing until you begin to smell the burgers. It’s worth stopping for!
Enjoy…go fish!
The company Eric keeps is pretty good too! Good times with good friends. “We shall meet on the water, we will tell stories and bad jokes, and laugh with tears in our eyes.”
