I hope you are finalizing your plans to attend the 2020 NW Fly Tyer and Fly Fishing Expo in Albany, OR. It’s just over 3 weeks away.
As usual, you’ll see me demonstrating a few flies that will catch fish!
It’s been several years since I took an active part in the Expo. I was treasurer for about 4 1/2 years (2011 – 2016) as well as Chair to lead the 2015 and 2016 Expos.
You can read about the Expos in the following RiverKeeper Flies posts:
- 2019 NW Fly Tying & Fly Fishing Expo
- 2018 NW Fly Tying & Fly Fishing Expo
- 2017 Stan Walters Memorial Fly Tyer of the Year
- 2016 NW Fly Tying & Fly Fishing Expo
- 2015 NW Fly Tyer & Fly Fishing Expo
While I’ve stepped away from a leadership role in the Expo, I continue to help out where I can. This is the third year I’ve taught fly tying classes during the show. In addition, I provide a little assistance updating the website, mainly on the fly tyer pages.
If you are a fly tyer, you won’t want to miss the Expo. It’s a great place to watch some VERY talented fly tyers. You’ll learn techniques, how to use new and old materials, and perhaps find a new effective fly to tie for your fly fishing.
I can’t begin to comment on which tyers to watch. They are all good with their craft.
I’ll be teaching a fly tying class about CDC feathers on Friday afternoon, which I understand is already sold out.
But stop by my table at 11:45 – 2:15 both days (Friday – table 3 and Saturday table 32) to watch be demonstrate a fly or two.
I hope to see you at the Expo!
Enjoy… go fish!
Nice post about the expo I think this is going to be one of the best ever.
