OK, this might not be a real old fly, but it will be 9 years old this year. I read where Lance Egan developed this fly in 2011 for the World Fly Fishing Championships held in Bolzano, Italy. He used his new fly to catch Browns, Rainbows, Marble trout and Grayling in Italy during these Championships.

The Frenchie and Rainbow Warrior.

Lance has won the US national fly-fishing championship several times and won medals at the world championships. I think I’d pay attention to any fly he created!

Enjoy…go fish!

  • Ida May

This week’s Throw Back Thursday Fly is the Ida May, a fly developed by Charles Brooks. The Ida May is listed as a general nymph fly pattern. I probably purchased his book Nymph Fishing for Larger Trout in the 1980’s. It was early in my fly fishing and fly tying journey. I’ve always been interested…

  • Very Small Flies

I finished a few small flies for two different customers recently. I’m always amazed how the stars seem to align. Turns out, both orders included some very small flies. I remember several years ago stating “if I need any flies size 20 or smaller, I’ll buy them!” Well, I’m having to eat those words right…
