Supporting Casting for Recovery

I just finished tying a box of 7 dozen flies I’m donating to an upcoming Casting for Recovery (CfR) auction supporting Casting for Recovery. I hope these flies will bring in a few dollars for the Southern Oregon CfR retreat my wife leads.

Casting for Recovery (CfR) is a retreat designed to help women in various stages of breast cancer enrich their lives through fly fishing.

Retreats are offered at no cost to the participants and “offer opportunities for women to find inspiration, discover renewed energy for life, and experience healing connections with other women and nature.” (CfR website)

This is the time of year the national organization raises funds for their operations as well as over 40 retreats across the US.

Here is the box of flies I tied, a total of 84 flies.

  1. John, I always enjoy your posts but had to comment on this one. My wife and I were very active in the Ohio CFR retreat for a ten year period. Super program for the ladies!! My wife was a huge part of the program helping in several areas. The retreat leader’s husband and I were gophers, sign hangers as well as anything else that needed done to facilitate. Somehow I was elected to be one who located 14 worthy “River Helpers” for the fishing event on the last day. (enjoyed every minute of it).
PS: I very much enjoy your TBT posts! love seeing the old patterns and the stories behind them!
