We had a wonderful time fly fishing at Lago Pascua with Coyhaique River Lodge. This is the one and only day we fished a lake in Chile and the fishing gods smiled down upon us.

A we crested the hill, a beautiful, picturesque lake came into view. Our drive continued to the far side of the lake where a motorized drift boat was waiting for us on the shore, securely attached by a winch on a post.

Matt Nagler was our guide for the day. He used to guide for the lodge, but now works full time roasting coffee under the name Koi Aike Coffee. One of our local guides needed to attend to a family matter and Matt stepped in. We were very happy he did!

Matt suggested we begin our day with a dry/ dropper rig. It wasn’t long before a nice Rainbow ate the DRY fly. My PMX Royal, Fat Alberts, and a beetle worked well.

Needless to say, we clipped off the dropper quickly and enjoyed dry fly fishing the rest of the day.

The fish were good-sized and fiesty. This one took my Card’s Cicada. It seems the black and orange combination would continue to be popular with the fish.

Here are a few more images I hope you enjoy.
And Dancingtrout lived up to her name!

No fish were harmed as Matt was ready with the net just out of view.

We have great memories fly fishing at Lago Pascua.
Enjoy… go fish!
