Old Aluminum Fly Box

This week’s Throw Back Thursday Fly is an old aluminum fly box!

OK, it may be a little strange to have an old fly box rather than a named fly, but it’s just to interesting to pass up.

A friend of mine sent two old aluminum fly boxes to me in the mail to check out. Here is one of them. I opened the worn box with amazement and tried to imagine where these flies were used. How many times did the box see water? How old is it?

I’ll never know the answers to these questions, but one thing is certain…it made me smile. And I hope it made it’s original owner smile as well.

All the compartment lids still open with ease. I wonder how many flies this box has held over the years.
