Here is the fly pattern sheet for a Caddis Euro Jig Nymph

Materials

 

Hook:

Daiichi 4647 60 degree heavy wire jig hook, #14 – 16

Thread:

6/0 black

Bead:

3.3 mm black or gold slotted tungsten

Tail:

Mallard flank, natural or dyed wood duck

Rib:

Floss, red

Body:

Olive Haretron (or any spikey dubbing)

Thorax:

Dark brown or black Haretron (or any spikey dubbing)

Optional – Another option for the Euro Jig is to use a rib of brown floss and olive/tan Haretron

Directions:

  1. Place bead on hook.
  2. Start thread behind eye of hook and wind to hook barb.
  3. Tie on tail. Length should be about shank of hook.
  4. Tie on rib.
  5. Dub tapered body.
  6. Bring rib forward using 4 – 5 wraps.
  7. Dub thick thorax.
