Here is the fly pattern sheet for a Caddis Euro Jig Nymph
Materials | |
Hook: | Daiichi 4647 60 degree heavy wire jig hook, #14 – 16 |
Thread: | 6/0 black |
Bead: | 3.3 mm black or gold slotted tungsten |
Tail: | Mallard flank, natural or dyed wood duck |
Rib: | Floss, red |
Body: | Olive Haretron (or any spikey dubbing) |
Thorax: | Dark brown or black Haretron (or any spikey dubbing) |
Optional – Another option for the Euro Jig is to use a rib of brown floss and olive/tan Haretron
Directions:
- Place bead on hook.
- Start thread behind eye of hook and wind to hook barb.
- Tie on tail. Length should be about shank of hook.
- Tie on rib.
- Dub tapered body.
- Bring rib forward using 4 – 5 wraps.
- Dub thick thorax.
