Here is the fly pattern sheet for the CDC Little Olive Stone.

Materials
Hook:
Daiichi 1100, #16-18
Thread:
Danville 6/0 olive
Body:
Olive turkey biot
Wing:
Medium dun CDC, 2 feathers
Hackle:
Medium dun
Directions
- Attach thread to hook and wind to hook barb.
- Select an olive turkey biot and tie in by tip with smooth edge to the left. (This will give a smooth look vs a furled look it tied in with smooth edge on the right.) Wind thread forward to point about three hook eyes behind hook eye.
- Optional – place a small drop of Zap-a-Gap for durability.
- Wind turkey biot forward, slightly overlapping each previous wrap to obtain segmentation. Tie off and clip excess.
- Select two CDC feathers, align tips and tie on top of hook with natural curve of feather over body and slightly longer than hook. Secure and trim hackle butts.
- Select hackle, strip a few barbs off and tie in bare stem. Use 3 – 5 wraps depending on size of fly. Tip off feather and trip hackle.
- Whip finish and trim thread.

Hi John, great looking pattern. The last couple years I’ve been tying flys specifically for the Metolius many are your patterns so thank you. Anyway my question is regarding the pattern for the CDC little olive stone fly, is the body olive thread and the rib brown turkey biot?
Thanks
Bill
