Here is the fly pattern sheet for the Quigley PMD Cripple.
Materials
Hook:
Daiichi 1180/1190 or TMC 100, sizes 14 – 18
Thread:
8/0 Uni Light Cahill
Tail:
Pheasant tail fibers
Rib:
Small gold wire
Body:
Pheasant tail fibers
Thorax:
Superfine PMD dubbing
Wing:
Sparkle dun deer hair
Hackle:
Grizzly
Directions:
- Attach thread to hook behind hook eye and wind backwards to barb.
- Tie in pheasant tail fibers with 4 – 5 wraps. DO NOT CUT BUTT ENDS.
- Tie in wire rib.
- Wind pheasant tail fibers forward to make body and tie off at 50% point. Trim butt ends.
- Bring wire rib forward with 4 – 5 counter wraps and tie off.
- Add a small amount of dubbing. Be sure not to crowd remaining area for wing and hackle.
- Tie in deer hair wing with tips extend over hook eye. Cut rear section and leave small tuft.
- Tie in hackle. Place 3 wraps behind wing and lift wing material up and place 2 wraps in front. Tie off hackle and cut excess.
- Whip finish.
- Optional: trim hackle bottom even with hook point to allow low profile in water.
