Materials

Hook:

Daiichi 1130, TMC 2487 sizes 12 – 22

Thread:

Danville Brown 6/0

Shuck:

Tan or medium brown Z-lon

Body:

Brown small D-Rib

Thorax:

UV brown Ice Dubbing

Hackle:

Brown hen or dry fly

Underwing:

UV brown Ice Dubbing

Wing:

Brown or mottled brown Medallion sheeting

Head:

UV brown Ice Dubbing

Directions

  1. Begin thread on hook at thorax. Attach several strands of Z-lon and wind down bend of hook.
  2. Tie in D-rib and move thread to 3/4 mark. Wind D-rib forward with open turns (not touching turns) and tie off.
  3. Tie in hackle. Do not wrap.
  4. Dub thorax.
  5. Take a couple turns of hackle and trim top.
  6. Tie in several fibers of Ice Dubbing for underwing.
  7. Cut section of Medallion sheeting and tie on top of hook. Wrap thread back on top of sheeting to position wing backwards.
  8. Dub head area and whip finish.
