Here is the fly pattern sheet of the Blow Torch Variant – Seitz version. It’s another fly Bill uses successfully on the Crooked River, OR.
Materials
Hook:
Standard #16 nymph hook
Bead:
Gold 2.3 mm
Thread:
Fluorescent orange size 8/0 Ultra
Tail:
Glo-Brite floss #5 (fluorescent orange)
Rib:
Sulky metallic silver thread (from JoAnn’s Fabric Store)
Body/Thorax:
Peacock black Ice dub
Collar:
Fluorescent orange 8/0 Ultra thread
Directions
- Debarb hook and slide bead on hook.
- Attach thread and position at barb.
- Take a 3″ piece of Glo-Brite floss and double over twice to create 4 equal lengths.
- Tie in floss “bunch” to create tail. Trim equal with hook bend – must be short.
- Attach rib material.
- Dub slender body.
- Bring rib material forward with 4 turns and tie off.
- Use working thread to create hot-spot. Whip finish and trim.
