This fly pattern was taught by Jeff Perin of The Fly Fisher’s Place in Sisters, OR at the Central Oregon Flyfishers Winter Fly Tying Class. This is one of several fly patterns Jeff highlighted in his blog about Euro Nymphing.

Personal tying notes:

  • Hook comparisons – Kona BC1 and Daiichi 1130 are fine wire hooks and won’t hold a bead well as it extends onto hook eye.
  • MFC 7190 and Ahrex FW 511 are barbless; Daiichi 1120 is offset with barb.
  • Currently using Solarez Bone Dry for body and Gulff Black Magic for wing pad.
