This week’s Throw Back Thursday Fly is Ed Schroeder’s Parachute Caddis.
I found this fly while searching for a fly for this week’s post. I pulled out Randall Kaufmann’s Tying Dry Flies (1991). I probably tried tying it in the mid-1990’s, but that’s so long ago, I don’t remember.
I read somewhere that Schroeder tied this fly for the Madison River, MT in the 1970’s. That spoke to me as I have been lucky to fish the caddis hatch on the Madison the last few years. My go-to sly is an X Caddis – Tan in size 16. So I thought it appropriate to tie a couple of these in the same size.
I plan to give them a try this summer!
Lastly, I’ve featured another of Ed’s flies, Schroeder’s Parachute Hopper.
Enjoy…go fish, stay safe!
