Here is the fly pattern sheet for the Zelon Midge.

Materials

 

Hook:

Dai Riki 125 or TMC 2488 #18 – 24

Thread:

6/0 Danville brown 

Trailing shuck:

Midge gray straight zelon

Body:

Thread

Wing:

Midge gray straight zelon

Thorax:

Midge black zelon dubbing

Directions:

  1. Split zelon hank into 1/3 and 2/3 sections.
  2. Use 1/3 section for tail.
  3. Tie in tail around thorax area and wind thread down hook bend. Cut zelon about hook gap in length.
  4. Wind thread forward to 2/3 mark. Thread forms the body.
  5. Use remaining 2/3 section for wing. Tie in perpendicular to hook with figure 8 wraps.
  6. Dub thorax.
  7. Pull wing back and trim the length of body.
