Here is the fly pattern sheet for the Zelon Midge.
Materials | |
Hook: | Dai Riki 125 or TMC 2488 #18 – 24 |
Thread: | 6/0 Danville brown |
Trailing shuck: | Midge gray straight zelon |
Body: | Thread |
Wing: | Midge gray straight zelon |
Thorax: | Midge black zelon dubbing |
Directions:
- Split zelon hank into 1/3 and 2/3 sections.
- Use 1/3 section for tail.
- Tie in tail around thorax area and wind thread down hook bend. Cut zelon about hook gap in length.
- Wind thread forward to 2/3 mark. Thread forms the body.
- Use remaining 2/3 section for wing. Tie in perpendicular to hook with figure 8 wraps.
- Dub thorax.
- Pull wing back and trim the length of body.
