Purchased from Blue Ribbon Flies

It happens that we were driving through West Yellowstone, MT yesterday and I stopped at Blue Ribbon Flies. I remembered one of my RiverKeeper Flies followers suggested I use the Driscoll Midge as a Throw Back Thursday Fly. I had planned to tie one, but hadn’t gotten around to it. Hence, the stop at BRF.

Steve Driscoll, a former guide for Madison River Outfitters, developed the Driscoll midge sometime in the early 2000s. When he left MRO, he gave the fly to Blue Ribbon Flies.

Steve tied the fly for the cruisers in Hebgen lake. He tied all the Driscoll midges for the shop until he left the Yellowstone area.

The following is a link of Aaron Freed of Blue Ribbon Flies tying the fly.

Enjoy…go fish, stay safe!
